its so easy thier should be like 3 or 4 wires one goes to the lights one goes to acc one is ground and the other is the tach to find the tach you need a dmm set it to ac volts and now open the hood and look for your spark plug wires when you find them follow them to your dis cap somewhere on you dis cap there are wires connected to it prob the wires with your dmm probe each wire and pull the trottle back a little you should see the volts jump that is you tach. now to find you acc wire use the dmm and probe the wires in the ignition harness it should show 12 vdc in the on position. there you go good luck.

I feel like a 3rd grade teacher.

But it's easier to read and comprehend, now to respond:

There is no "distributor cap" on my 2200SFI. There is a wire harness right under my intake tube connected to my coil packs. The white wire controls pulses for two of the cylinders and the orange wire controls pulses for the other two. Choose the white wire to be consistent with every set of instructions I've ever read for getting a tach signal in a GM EFI car. Other GM engines are similar.

u might need a tach adapter if your tach reading (once u get it hooked up) looks too low (will read half of what it should be) ex. If you're at 4000 RPM the tach will only read 2000 RPM... if this is the case, get a tach adapter...I got mine from RKSport, but many people on here have had problems with them...mine works well though.
