Hi, hope this is the right place for this so here goes. My friend has a 02 cavalier with streetglow led underglow, problem is it only turns on when the key is in the ignition and turn on. Now she wants it to run without having to put her key in. I didn't install it but i figure the problem is that the power source is tapped of the ignition wire so it only gets power with the key turned. So would running a direct line to the battery with an inline switch solve this problem or is it something else? Any comments or ideas appreciated.

Yes, just run a wire from the battery to the transformer with an inline switch. Thats what I did when I installed mine a few years back. Heres a wiring diagram from their website:
