My friend and I want to hook up our CB's.....and we are wondering how to do this using our fuse box.
and I am sorry if this thread was already started
more info please.....
do you want to wire a switch into the dash?
or do you just need a power source
if the CB has a 12V cig plu just take apart the plug, hook the pos wire into a blank spot in the fuse box that is only on if ACC/ON and then ground the neg wire
Ok, well i dont need a switch for it......on the instructions it says plug the wire into the ACC/ON in the fuse then just ground it....I dont know what to do and I would like to get this hooked up tomorrow (10/12/05 Wednsday) that way me and my friend will have our CB's.
also I have a 96 Chevy Cavilier Four Door 2.2L engine.
where bouts do u live?
you really need to fill out your registry, it helps alot
but basically all you do is plug the power wire into the fuse box, if you dont have cruise control, there is an open slot for that which is listed on the cover plate, just get a spade terminal and crimp it to the end of the wire and jam it on in there, easy as that
if you live some where in/around central Pa i may be able to help you
I live about....roughly......30-45 minutes away from central Philadelphia. I also have cruise control.
Couldn't I just plug the power wire into one of the open fuses and the just put a fuse in there to keep the wire in place? or is that a stupid idea.
not sure, you can tho just use an open fuse
thats what i was telling you to do
the point of using on thats only on in ACC/ON is so that the CB will only turn on when the car is on or in ACC that way you wont kill your batt if you forget to turn it off

yes that is a stupi dquestion.....tap into an acc wire or jus tconvert it to a a plug that you can just put into ur cigarette lighter
Look in your fuse box for a slot that says ACC. If the CB has a fuse on the power wire already just connect your power wire to the slot that says ACC and ground the ground wire.
Basically your looking for a slot in your fuse box that is on when the car is on or in the Accessory side and off when the key is off.
ok well is the ACC fuse the same as the IGN fuse or no? also what do I do, take out the fuse then put in the wire? Don't I need something to hold the wire in?
I don't know what year your car is to know exactly how the fuse box is laid out. In my 2005 Cavalier there is a fuse labeled Power ACC it's a 15 amp fuse a few fuses infront of the relay in the fuse box. Get som ATC fuse taps to tap into the fuse box. If your car uses mini atc fuses get
these
If your car uses the bigger ATC fuses get the ATC Large fuse taps.
You'll pull out the fuse, insert the tap, reinsert the fuse, and then connect your wire to the end of the tap.
