Head Unit RE-Install

Ok, I searched all over for this and came up with nothing. I had my deck installed professionally because I didn't know how to at the time. Now, I just installed some subs and an amp with a few friends and now the deck does not want to go back into the mounting sleeve where it was. It sticks out like a half inch or so and will not latch back into place. I checked all the wiring behind it from behind the dash and there are no wires in the way sooo what do I do? By the way, it's an Alpine CDA-9851 if that helps at all. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have run into this problem a couple of times on a couple of different cars.

Even though it looks like there is nothing or in the way, there very well may be. If you are using a harness adaptor for your aftermarket HU, push that back as far as it can go. You may have to lift it a bit and tuck it behind the plastic at the back of the stereo spot.

Your RCA cables are also considered a suspect. Make sure that they are out of the way of travel when reinstalling your HU. You also might want to measure the length of the HU w/ RCA cables and then measure the depth of the mounting sleeve just to make sure that the cables are not resting against the plastic before the HU snaps in place.

Yeah I thought about cutting out the piece you can see inside there, but what would you use to reach way back there? Also, that piece isn't needed for anything right, like it wont make one of the dash pieces loose or anything?

Anyone? Help? My deck is just like sitting there asking to get ripped off and I'd like to get it back in place soon.
