passed the MECP test yesterday. I know some people on here say it doesn't matter, but I'm proude of myself.

I wanna take the installer portion next. At my work we get paid to pass the test, and a possibility of a raise in pay.

The people who say it doesn't matter are proably the the ones who could'nt pass themselves. Congrats!

good job may not be necessary but damn sure makes it worth it when its done

Definitely a confidence boost wether you need it for the job or not.

MECP stands for Mobile Electronics Certified Professional, you will see that logo on ALOT of audio components and Electronics magazines

got mine back in 1999, took the specialist in 2001, and never took it again.

MECP is a hard test, it really shows people what you know if you pass it. good luck with your career choice in installation. i lasted 6 years and got tired of it everyday but still do some side stuff. go for the master installer test in a couple of years then no one will say mecp if just a stupid test to you.

congrats man ive got that and basic and first class certs going for my masters in january. ya i lot of people say its a waste of time but its something nice to have


Cheap installs arent good and good installs arent cheap

Try getting FULL certification from Alpine next . NOW that is a feat in itself.

mecp is only useless if you dont have the hands on knowledge to make use of it. i think james has that part of it tooken care of. i got in an argument with a guy about that a few years back.
