Ok I have an '05 Cavy. And it doesnt have power locks or windows and I would like to tget them installed. Can I do this without switching doors, I would like to keep the doors I have. And how hard is it to do this, i am not planning to do this myself, I am going to have someplace like Car-Toys do this.
wouldnt believe so just get the parts from the junk yard out of a cav around the same year as yours. if you want it to look stock get the door panels also you should be able to swap it out and wire it up how ever hard that may be??
yep, not easy but not too hard, grab the pwr window motors/regulators from any 96+ 2dr jbody. you can use after market actuators, but they're quite loud for the locks, or just wire in stockers, mirrors i haven't done yet... but its not that difficult

I put power locks on mine, stock actuators are very simple to put in, direct replacement for the latch and three wires to wire up. Getting the door panel off can be tricky but it's cake once you do it a few times

ok thanks guys, although i was thinking of having some place like car toys do it for me. i was just wondering if i needed parts so i could give it to them. one thing though, what if i cant find those parts, can a place like car toys install everything for me for a few extra bucks. you know, put in the actuators and everything
i got the spal power window kit. it works better than my sisters 01 cav power windows. its just a little louder. i would go with the stock door panels and the stock motor and regulator along with the switches.

I'm interested in doing this too.. a few questions come into mind tho..
I have an 04 Cavalier. I don't have power windows or locks, and would like both.
I plan on getting power locks through an alarm/remote start/keyless entry system in the future. Should I get the stock actuators from a junkyard, or should I get the ones they sell at circuit city/best buy/wherever they install alarms?
When installing the power windows, where do you put the buttons? when you remove the window crank, what do you do with the hole in the door panel?
I've read the door panels used on cars that DO have power locks/windows WON'T fit on cars that DON'T have power locks/windows.. is that true? if not, it seems like the easiest route.
and one last question. I watched a video off streetfire website, where a guy modded his power windows to roll up or down in like a quarter of a second .. lol ... is that possible? (or possible to speed them up in any way?)
thanks for the info!

ok i bought the spal power window kit from a local small car audio store. i also bought tha spal window swithes. there are options as far what look switches u want. as far as locks, the same place u buy the spal kit will have act.'s for locks.
the spal kit only took me 4 hours to get it right on one door and 1.5 on the other. that includes running wires and the locks. can u put ur own radio and amps in while it all looks good and works and doesnt slide around? if so do it urself. spal directions are just fine and easy. if not go to ur local shop.
Everyone is telling you to get it out of another Cavvy... pfffftt..
Order it.

They make 2 wire kits for power windows, easier to install than a stock one.
And just get an alarm kit that will you to have power locks... I think that should work.

Yah I am going to order that spal kit. I like the idea of something brand new rather than something used, thats why I have an '05 cavy. Do you get the spal kit from online and if so from what site. And if not from online, what kind of stores can you get it from (Autozone, Pep Boys...).
car audio shops any local ones. i can order them here and ship them if u want.
Really, well I will call Car Toys and some other audio shops around here to see if they have the spal kit. Thanks for your offer but I could order them online if I really need to.
One thing though, what do you do with the hole that will be created when you take out the manual window thing you twist to open and close the windows??
And where do you put the switches, do you cut something out of your door to put the switches in so it looks stock??

i ordered my spal kit from ebay. it was only $87 without the switches. you can also order the stock switches for a cavalier from ebay for about $30. so you wont have to cut out any holes in your door panels. it looks good and the kit works good its a lil faster than my sis power windows on her 01 cavalier just a lil louder. ill post pictures om my kit later. as for the hole that remains from the window crack. there are caps 2 cover it up but the caps are kinda big so i decided not 2 put them on. i think it looks better without them...

You could also mount the switches where the holes are...
AutoLoc has switch mounts:
Clicky
Also, can you make it so that you can control both windows form the driver side. I dont want to have to reach over to the other side at all when I get my power window kit, I have had to lean over enough and I am sick of it..lol
And how many things would i have to buy so that I could have power windows, and locks. With switches on my door to control them with.
Question 1: Yes. You will have to buy an extra switch. Run that in parallel with the passenger side switch.
Question 2: If you go with the dual switch setup on the drivers door, you are looking at 4-5 switches -- 3 for windows, 1-2 for locks (if you want to add one to your passenger side door as well), 2 switch mounts for the power windows, and the 2 kits.
Ok, about how hard would this be to setup?? Can a shop do this for me for a service fee??
And with the spal power window kit, does it include something to cover up the holes that will remain from the manual window lever??
the spal kits look flimsy, and retarded, at least spend the money and get a replacement regulator and bran new motor, they'll work and last alot longer than the spal setup IMO, and its just as hard to wire in a spal kit than a stock kit, 2 wires from each motor, to the switch, run switched 12v+, ground, illumination, and voila. my windows are super fast, kuz i wired them with thick guage wiring all round.

My Cav
I give up...
i'm buying a VW those people love trees, so they should love eachother too... "Andy"
I did what Grimor said, i have these 2 doors in my room now, but i need a wiring diagram for the power locks, for the power windows, i should be fine, but for the locks, i want to be able to lock/unlock with the remote, so i guess i need the module in the trunk. i would like to wire everything like stock, with module, fuse, etc...
thanx!
I just picked up the 4 "power" doors for my car, I guess you can't actualy haul a cav door in a 4-door cav so I sat in the parking lot at Wendy's with the guy and took my doors off, put the new ones on, and drove home.
New Doors with power mirrors, locks, windows and switches...$300
Selling my doors back to the guy I got the new ones from..-$100
A story to tell your grand kids... priceless....
glad I'm painting my car next month....
Red car...black body kit...1 black fender...4 white doors... I wonder what color my trunk is going to be before I paint it since I plan on picking up one from an 02 lol
