I got Battery drain any help?
Tuesday, September 06, 2005 10:03 PM
Ok I'm having bad problems with my battery draining completely dead on me... i just recently installed a new cap and a digital readout fuse block and i am thinking one of these might be my problem

The cap has a digital read out on it and after you shut the car off it will stay on for like 30 seconds give or take a few and its the same with the digital fuse block it will stay on for just a short time

My battery is 1000 CCA and 800 CA so i really don't think it is my battery if i jump start the battery it runs and does fine but if it is let go for more then a couple of hours it will go dead...

I have checked all my wiring and made sure all my connections were good and they were but i am still having the same problem

Can someone give me some tips or help on how to fix this problem???

thanks in advance

My battery drains on me in a matter of 20 minutes while the stereo plays when the engine is off. My battery is not as powerful as yours mind you (and it's only a 550w amp), but it's still a problem. The capacitor stores power SO your battery doesn't drain as fast (reducing headlight dim,and other electrical problems with audio systems), it's essentially a second battery, but is merely a bandaid. The capacitor wouldnt drain your battery while the system is off, however. I like to think of the amp as "sucking power through the wire like a straw, and the capacitor is like a big reservoir in the middle of the straw", meaning it only takes power when it needs it, and it doesnt need it when it's off does it? the digital readouts turn off eventually, and the LED's take almost no power at all, which is why they use them. I'd say your battery is failing. But that's only my opinion.

it couldn't be my battery failing because it is brand new i have had to replace it 3 times because of this and i put it in the car it done great the next day it was so dead key buzzer wouldn't even come on so i have a serious problem somewhere but like i said it started when i installed the digital fuse block and the digital cap so I'm lost on what it could be

the first battery was not a deep cycle the second one was and the third one one i currently have the third one in now and needless to say it is dead i have no clue what the problem is i hate to remove the cap or the fuse block because they are both major components of my system

has anyone else had these problems before with a cap or a digital fuse block ???
