Kappa Perfect Problems?
Thursday, September 01, 2005 5:22 AM
Well i finally got around to buying the Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1 set and ran into a few problems.

1. the magnet was too big for 3/8, 1/2, and 5/8 mdf and i ended up having to go with 3/4 so it wouldnt hit the window. now the door doesnt close over the speaker(although i'm fairly certain its hitting the wood and not the actual speaker). i tightened up a crew and you cant notice but its still a problem nonetheless. kickpanels are not an option, i like everything looking stock.

2. after running all the connections, i find that when given the same amount of watts, my rear speakers (pioneer 5 ways) are louder. maybe its just cause the infinity's need more juice to move them? i havent hooked up my new amp yet, i'll do that today or tomm, but i was just a little disapointed when i ran them off the head unit. i thought i wouldnt hear the rear speakers over the components

3. the cross over has a little plug that i can pull out and move into a different position so give me tweeter +4, 0, or -4 db. maybe thats why i find them low? should i move that? will that affect anything when i amp it? i generally like my highs, uh, high.

i have pics of the install, but i cant figure out how to get them off my new cell phone so i'll post them later on today

That switch or settings only affects the tweeter, is there one for the woofer as well?

1} there is a company that makes an adapter that adapts a 4x6 to a 6 1/2 and also spaces the speaker out enough for the magnet, the company's website is metraonline.com and i believe its only for cavalier/sunfire applications, try that, i have it on my cavalier and it works great for my kicker ss components.

2) i had a pair of the infinity component's (reference and kappa perfects) before and the kappa perfects need a lot of power for them to scream so try a bigger amp.

3) i agree with what Lanman31337 said above.

hopefully that helps, Good Luck!

The metra adapters don't fit for a sunfire. They end up rubbing the door panel. Anyways, run your speakers off of an amp, push the power to them

yea, i have an 800a4, so i have more than enough power to move them. i just havent hooked it up yet and found it to be low run off the headunit compared to other things. i'll connect the amp tomorrow.

the switch only affects the tweeter and i dunno if i should **** with it or not. its in the crossover

If it's just for the tweeter, it'll only affect the tweeter, and not give you + or - db to the woofer.
