Troubleshooting DRL after a radio/deck Install.

So the story goes like this:

2002 Cavalier with factory radio.

My wife took it in to have a Cd deck installed (panasonic) where they also had a new chime add with the installation to replace the one we were losing. After the installation and BEFORE we leave the lot, we notice that the service light comes on. We go back in and explain, and guy looks it over and says that because of the radio, the car just need to get used to it....sure whatever. the problem doesn't stop.

Couple of days later, the problem still hasn't gone away, but we narrowed it down.. whenever the e-brake is release, the service light and the DRL indicators alternate about 7 times. the headlights blink the same way, then the service light stays on, the DRL stays off as well as the lights themselves. the High-beams do work however.

Talking to the installer, they believe that its a bad DRL module and it was a coincidence the problem resulted at the same time. THey even had us bring it in again and they looked over the car, took off the dash and look at the work. They said they looked for pinched wiring or anything that could have become jostled, but nothing was found and the problem remains. I asked about the wiring, having read John Lenko's guide to installation, but was advised that the harness they use doesn't require tapping a 12v source, it literally plugs to the cavaliers radio connector. We were advised to take it to the dealer and get it looked at..

Talking to the installation manager, I felt he was very genuine about the problem, especially since they took another look behind the dash and explained they did not have to tap any wire or whatever.

I am not at all familiar about cars or their internals so I'm seeking advise and input. I've done some searching but have not founds anything similar to my problem.Has some advice about how to fix this problem or has someone has run into the same problem?

Thanks for any help.
