alright, so here's my bundle of troubles
i went to hook up my amp before the bash, just going to run it to my speakers until i get my sub box made.... anywho...
i have a pioneer 4600 headunit, and MTX thunder 6000 amp.
heres what i did:
ran the power from the battery (+) to the power of the amp, grounded the amp, hooked up the remote wire from the HU to the amp, hooked up the RCA's, and then hooked some speaker wire (18 guage) to my sub... FYI: i hooked it up to the sub because i thought it woud be easier to see if its working or not
everything hooked up and then i turned on my car and tuned the radio
...NOTHING!!
then i tried another amp, i had laying around... not sure if it works but thought id give it a shot. hook'd everything up....
NOTHING AGAIN!
im getting a power light on each amp (well not on the old one, but another light comes
on so i know its working)
also, another thing that has caught my attention, and jasonaudio's as well.... when i have my RCA's hooked up, and the power cabled detached from the amp, the power light still lights up!!! only half the brightness then when the power cable is attached. however, w/ the RCA's plugged in and the power cable, and then TURN THE CAR OFF... i still have power!!
ALSO!! with the car turned on, the RCA's unplugged and the power cable hook'd up... NO POWER LIGHT!!
WHAT THE HECK IS UP WITH MY DECK!!??!!
any suggestions are welcome... i give up!!
anyone???
update: i hooked the amps up to a friends system and i now know that they both work!! so that makes me think it is either the wiring or the Headunit itself.
any other thoughts?
I remember having a MTX amp that had an auto detect think from the rca that would turn it on instead of remote wire. Not sure if that is your problem but i had to put i toggle switch on the main power wire to get it working right..
keysurfer.. can you elaborate on that some more for me....
also, does anyone know where i can find the wiring diagram for a headunit; so that i can check to see if everything is plugged in where its suppose to be??

Before you do that, get your hands on a volt meter (multimeter can be had for less than 20 bucks at Radio Shack), and we'll get you up and working again...
