wow this is neat information. I have a 2004 cavalier, and i got infinity reference 4x6 2-way plate speakers in the doors, and 6x9 3-way loudspeakers in the rear. I like the 6x9's a LOT better than the 4x6's ...
I was unaware that it was possible to put different speaker sizes in the doors. how does that work?
You need a mounting plate.
You can make your own, or buy some on ebay.

I just put a set of 6.5" Round 3 way Infinity Kappa Perfect 63.7i in my doors. Holy crap are they clear and crisp. I don't think 6x9s would look good, but it can be done.
go with a componet set. it will sound better, probalby take less work, and wont look as bad.
