My new headunit is IPod ready, does that mean that its also capable of playing other MP3 players or just IPods?

what kinda deck is it? And what kinda connection does it have for the Ipod? Does it have a 1/8" jack on it for an input? Or something like that? Chances are you'll be able to use any MP3 player with a headphone or line-out jack. But it would help to know what deck you have.

FM modulator plugs into your cig lighter and then into your iPod/MP3 player and transmits the signal the FM band so you can use your radio and tune into the FM frequency. Sometimes the quality is good, sometimes it sucks. I, personally, would rather hard wire it using the Auxilary input on your deck which would allow you to plug in anything with an 1/8" headphone/line out jack.

But it seems like your deck has a special iPod feature

youll need this KCA-420i iPod interface adaptor KCA-420i iPod interface adaptor to use your decks iPod feature.

As said you need the ipod adapter, YES the deck will plug into it, but the ipod support is very extensive. in comparision to a mp3 player . Whe any other mp3's player is in, you can only change the song from your mp3 player, while with the Ipod You can control the Ipod from your deck itself. The Ipod route is much less a head ache. I beleive in order to hook up your mop3 player or any thing for that matter requires a RCA to 1/8 wire peice. BUT as sadi before control is very limited when you go this route, being only able to change your music from the player itself, not your HU. FOR less headaches go with the Ipod + adapter. If you need more info on install etc, talk to your local "TRUSTED" installer.
