dont know how legal these are but who makes a good reliable one cops in my neighborhood love to pull you over if you go 5 miles over the limit and im sick of tickets...i'd get a regular one but i hate how they go off all the time when u go by banks and whatnot, although i havent seen one in years maybe the technology has changed in them? any advice or feedback is appreciated thx

Radar Detectors are legal in most states.

Radar Jammers are illegal in most states. And sine they "jam" they are actually transmitting... so no matter what state you are in, you need a FCC license to legally transmit such a frequency.

If Radar Jammers are illegal in your state, you wont be able to find them for sale in your state (unless you go to some junk store on the corner that doesnt give a @!#$ if they get sued by the state).

I got a radar scanner because I will admit that I speed. Only about 15 mph over the limit, but ONLY on freeways (where most the traffic is 10 mph over anyways).

If your gunna do @!#$ that can get you in trouble, think about it first, and be careful, don't try to cover it up.

I'm not saying dont do it, cuz I do it and im not a hypocrit. Just know what you're doing, be safe, and accept the consequences if you get caught.

well when you live in a town thats 30 mph nomatter where you are and your cars already a moving target. its hard and i dont go to fast (40 tops in town) so that im putting everyone else around me in danger but honestly have you ever tried going 30 it feels like im gonna get passed by lance armstrong....

Don't waste your money. Radar Jammers Don't Work. Also you should check to see if your town uses radar or laser. For good info on detectors go to to www.radarbusters.com

the best jammer is anouther rader gun, get a few (one for each band that they use) and put them in the grill of your car always on when your car is in motion... sure it's not good if you wanna have kids.. but it works great.

It's probably 30 for a good reason. By doing 40, you make your car that much more of a moving target.

You dont quite know what you're talking about do you?

If they use anytihng, they will use both.

Radars can be used while the squad car is in motion. Radars require the squad car to be close to you and you need to be 'zapped' 3 times at the same speed for them to get a reading that they can legally use.

Lasers can only be used when the squad car is at a complete stop. Lasers only need to 'zap' you once and they got you.

Squad cars are also able to tail you and match your speed to give you a ticket.

Few things to remember...

You can only get a speeding ticket if the cop has a speed that you were going. He needs to say "He was going X miles an hour" and be able to prove it using one of the methods above for it to be legal.

If the cop asks "Do you know how fast you were going?" and you say "100 mph", he can legally give you a ticket for 100 mph, even if he doesnt have you clocked at that speed, since you admitted to the crime.

Sicne you need to be 'zapped' three consecutive times by a radar to get a legal reading, once you hear a normal radar detecter start going off, jsut slow down. Soemtimes even coasting will decelerate you at a good enough pace. The radar gun needs to get the same speed three consecutive times (plus or minus 2 mph) for it to be legal.

I speak from experience... I used to be a police explorer in my city, and am still buddies with a lot of the cops aroudn here.
