Hey guys. My 6x9's and sub cuts out every once in a while (well... it SEEMS to be more like on for 4 or 5 min, off for a min or two)... the amp still has power to it... but nothing is comming out of the 6x9's and sub (both hooked up to the amp) Any ideas??
Does the amp go into protection? If you have a voltmeter or multimeter, test the interconnects to make sure they are getting voltage all the time and it's not the deck cutting the signal. If the signal is fine, and the amp is not going into protection, I would say it's something inside the amp.

if the amp does go into protection it shouldnt come back on unless you cut the power off then back on to reset it. what i think you check is the terminals on your 6x9's. are they close to metal? do your speakers move at all? how solid are your connections? if all that is good most likely it is a coil that hasnt completely blown yet. the amp is usually the last to go. also what brands are they?
any chance we @!#$ up the wiores when we were trying to get ur sub working at the meet???

I know my amp would go into protect mode when it got too hot (wasn't nearly enough space around it), but once it cooled down a little it would kick back on. might want to make sure it's not overheating also.
It's an Audiobahn Amp (not sure what model, it's chrome and lights up blue)... and the sub is a LIghtning Audio 12" in a sealed box.
I was talking to someone earlier and they said it sounded like the amp was probably getting too hot and cut out to cool off a bit or something?? If so how can I fix this problem??
probably your headunit actaully going out... thats what my problem was... that is if your amp isnt goin into protect mode
If it's going into protection and coming back on, it's most likely heat like everybody else said. You could fix this by wiring the subs to a higher resistance, or by cooling the amp better. You add a fan, but first make sure the amp is getting plenty of air around it, that could fix your problem.
