How to tell if an amp is blown?

My gf has a system in her car that hasn't been working for awhile. My best guess is that the amp is blown...how can i check for sure? It's an RF amp.

Replace fuses, make sure it correctly wired, turn it on.

No sound OR funny smell = Dont work

Not really that simple. In that case it could be the subs, the speaker wires, the RCA's, the HU and so on.


Do you have any friends that have systems? Easy test, take the amp out of her car and put it in someone elses. If it works, the problem is somewhere else, if it doesn't, well there you go.
