Need help with 6X9 install !!
Saturday, June 11, 2005 5:09 AM
If I'm just running a set of Kicker 6x9's in my '02 Z24, which wires will I need to tap into in the trunk to get the right sound. I've got 4 wires in the plug, and can't tell which ones to use. I didn't think the car had the monsoon amp, but maybe it doesm (doesn't it usually say so?). Where would that amp be located? Any assistamce is appreciated.

Wysiwg, I have a Kenwood Excelon 579 head unit. I put Alpine 2 way 4x6 in the doors, and have the Kicker 2 way 6X9's in the back deck. I do not have an amp yet, but am looking for a good 4 channel 50-100 watt amp to power all of these speakers. I hooked the Kickers up to the speaker standard leads, but the plug from the factory speakers had 2 additional leads, I believe to power the factory dual driver 6x9's. I need to know if I'm losing any sound by not using the other two leads, and if so, how can I rewire to get all of the sound? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Best thing to do would be to run new speaker wires from your head unit -
If you amp your speakers your going to have to do it anyway.
