good amp? i been running a 1000a2 and a 400a4, and i find that the 400 watts isnt enough for the bess i'm running(i got it wires down to 2 ohms so i'm pulling 2800 watts out of it). i've pretty much got the 400a4 sold and i just made a bid on an 800a4(ebay).
what are you hook what up to?

the 800a4 is for my mids and highs.. infinity 6.5 kappa's in the front and pioneer 6x9 5 ways in the back.

yes its 4 channel amp. the 400a4 is 140x4@2ohms and 70x4@2ohms. i just sold it to buy this one which is 280x4@2ohms amd 140x4@4ohms, or basically, twice as powerful. i found that 70 watchs to each wasnt enough for the bass i'm running and i couldnt really hear it over the bass. my question is to anyone thats run the amp, what do you think of it, and do you think the speaker can hadle 140(clean) watts each?
I think you'll be fine running that much power. Your only going over a little bit.... I say your good to go, but I'm no pro at this either
i remember wysiwyg told me once he was sending 150 to each of his components(with a JL 300/1?), so i'm pretty sure my kappa's can handle 140, i'm not sure about the pioneer 6x9 coxials in the back though. i know the 5 ways take a beating, but i dont wanna blow them.
my friend had one back in the day its a good amp but i dont see how your gettin 2800 to the subs since its 1000@4 ohms x 1
the amp is 550x2@2ohms(stereo), but the birthsheet says its more like 716x2@2ohms(stereo). i have it wires mono, and i should be getting 1400x1@4ohms, right? well, even the the amp isnt 2ohm stable, i wired it that way anyways. so i'm getting 2800 out of what should be 1400. each sub recieves 1400.
i know, its at my own risk that i'll fry the amp with that load, but this amp takes a serious beating. i've had it like this for 5 months and no problems. not even a fan to cool it down and it gets pretty hot. i'm going to buy one pretty soon
yea i know but if its 1400x1 your not going to get 2 times the power at 2 ohms. thats the same as saying a orion 2500D will do 5000 watts at .5 ohms
how exactly would i know then? it always seems like thats the case.. the amp is 275x2@4ohms550x2@2ohms so i figured 1400x1=2800x1ect. and since the amp isnt 2 ohms stable, it wouldnt say that in the manual.
sorta off topic but how do you like the pioneer 5 ways? I bet the highs are nice but how good do they handle bass? asking for future reference.
im runing the rf800a2 and it @!#$ awesome ruing over 1200 watts rms at 2 ohms and tested at 3700 watts rms at 1 but i dont believe it

i love them. one of the best 6x9's i've ever owned. crisp highs and mids. i have them set with a high pass filter, so i dont really use them much for bass, but before i got my subs, i rememeber they had pretty good bass. enough so you could feel something. i'd recomend them. the only problem with them is the basket is huge and will not fit into the stock hold onless you either get spacers or cut the sheet metal
