I got some JBL 6x9 and 4x6 to replace my stock speakers, but i dont seem to be getting a good bass out of the 6x9, do you think that i need an amp for it? The clarity id great but no bass whats so ever! I am thinking of changing them and get JVC's what do you think?
Oh yeah I have a Kenwood Flip up dvd/cd Headunit.
double check your polarity on your speakers. If one is backwards, you'll have no bass either. But either way, you should amp them to get the most of any aftermarket speakers
JBL GTO's are great speakers, yet they can deffinetly benefit from a good amp {50x4} would do the trick. There frequency response if i remember right is something like 50 to 20. If you want to replace the speakers with a more efficiant 6x9 with a wider frequency response i would go with the Alpine SPS series. They have a response of something like 30 to 22 and reguire less power to drive them.
Wifes ride..1998 Sunfire Gt with ractive intake and stb
My ride...1995 315hp lincoln mark viii lots of goodies
a 6x9 isn't going to give a whole lotta bass in the first place...
^^ disagree, to a point. My Pioneer 4 ways, amped, have prompted questions of if I had a small 8" sub in the back. They definately give more than stock. BUT, it's nowhere near the bass of a good sub in the back end.
