ok...am i missing anything here...
Thursday, April 14, 2005 6:35 PM
2003 stock ecotec CAV, 5 speed

if i buy an intake, 75shot wet kit kit, correct plugs, i dont need to upgrade my fuel pump, i dont need to change my timing, i dont need to run premium fuel, the kit "should" take car of perfect fuel and air ratios (since it is a wet kit)

When i drive, a WOT switch combined with a GO BABY GO switch, will ensure the vechile will do things in this order...

full throttle
nitrous on...car goes fast...
rpm hits 5800
clutch in
nitrous off
change gear
full throttle
nitrous on once again...
rpm hits 5800
etc etc

Am I missing anything? any concepts i am not understanding correctly?

What happens if i miss a shift... i have missed going into 4th a few times, and accidently redlined my car in neutral... does such an event pose a threat?

Will my car be able to safely handle this size of shot.... or should i go with a 50 shot? How many shots do you think my car can take untill i fry the motor if this is ALL i do.

Thanks for your help

one more thing....

on a cav, do i need a device that only sprays when i am above a certin RPM.... or is a WOT switch good enough?

any way around the mis shift problem? Is there any sort of signal the stock computer gives out for shifting? wouldnt be to hard to make a relay to solve this problem.

u got it basically down right, but you do have to run premium fuel

OK

i dont wanna run premium fuel...since i will only be using the juice on fridays. SSSSSSOOOOOOO i dont wanna be spending money on premium all the time. is it safe to buy regular... and when friday comes, and i got 3/4 tank of reg in the cav.... i can dump in some octane booster. Sound safe?

1. Use premium fuel.............just throw a couple gallons of 93 octane in on top of the mid grade stuff.

2. it should be in this order:
full throttle
nitrous on...car goes fast...
rpm hits 5800
NITROUS OFF
CLUTCH IN
change gear
full throttle
nitrous on once again...
rpm hits 5800
etc etc

you want to stop spraying before you push the clutch. If not the engine will sky rocketed into the rev limiter quicker than you can react.Don't spray until you are sure it's in gear.

3. The car will handle 75 shot of wet nitrous just fine as long as you are careful and respectful of it.

no comments on the octane booster additive?

isnt octane the important aspect of using premium with no2?

Octane booster is @!#$, read the cans once.

They raise the octane level like 10 points, so if you put in 87 octane, and a can of octane booster, you have 97 octane right? WRONG!

A point is a tenth of 1 octane. So a 10 point octane booster will raise your 87 octane gas to 88.

Go read the fine print on the bottle once.

You'd be surprised by the power if ignorance in mass, people see "10 points" and think "Damn! I can put in 85 octane gas, this $2.00 bottle of octane booster and run 12's in the quarter on my 85 pinto"

...i dont see how octane could help your 1/4mile time... especially in a pinto...

infact, i dont think octane has realtionship to speed really.

you shouldn't have to turn your nitrous off that's what th WOT switch is for.. because inbetween shifts you should have your foot off of the gas pedal.

Thats true for those that use a WOT switch.I personally just use a arming switch and a momentary switch mounted on my shift knob.

I run regular gas all week in my car and try to have the tank empty near the end of the week so I can put half a tank of premium in for the track on friday. Its not too hard to figure out the timing.

Don't waste your time with octane boost.

Thats really hard on your pump to go below 1/8th-ish tank of gas, just be careful doing it on a regular basis.

if youre not doing timing or fuel mods, i seriously recommend using 93 octane. also, in order to prevent the overrev proble, just let off the gas when you shift... simple, no? easier on the clutch too. and you can never go wrong with a WOT switch..... idiots with those push button nos switches blow their engines.
