I have a friend with a stock 2001 z24 with automatic transmission and want to put nitrous on it. How much can it handle?
i was told that a 2200 can handle a 50shot stock
My car may run 18s, but I can do your taxes in 10 seconds flat.
JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again

i ran a 100 shot on my stock 3spd . but i would think that the 4spd should handle a 50-75 shot .

I'd think that both should handle them damn well! Anything jetting that a 4cyle stg 1 kit may offer should be able to be handled by any J tranny.
Compare with the guys running boost on their auto J's! Only difference is that we would or could put down more TQ earlier which would only be a problem for a clutch, axles, and control arms at the most. Of course those are none computer related issues! That's another demon!

I am putting a 75 shot on it for him. I didn't know if it would cause any clutch slip, torque converter problems, or brake anything in the trans. I am also putting on an underdrive crank pulley , cold air intake, header and full exhaust. What do you think it will run in the 1/4?

I checked out your profile. What is the autotrans interceptor you have? I don't know much about these 4 cyl cars. I'm into racing mustangs.

shouldnt you be asking how much torque the tranny can hold as a result of a XXX shot? i kno i ran a 12.968 on the 4t40e and the only mods i have is a tranny cooler and a temp gauge

I don't think anyone has put a as much power and abuse into 4t40e as me and i have yet to break it. Worry about the motor blowing, not the trans.

I just figured that the motor would handle a 100 shot all day long. I would think the auto trans would give up because of all that torque when shifting while spraying.

as long as you take care of it, it should be fine... you need something to increase the shift pressure (hptuners, autotrans interceptor, b&m shiftkit), a tranny cooler and temp gauge to make sure it doesnt overheat and fail, change the tranny oil filter, and oil, use synthetic oil, and maybe a additive i forget what they are called now...
that sucks for DragRaceMyZ24, maybe there was something else wrong causing the trannys to fail??

Didn't Rick King have a stock auto trans? He eventually put an auto trans interceptor or B&M shift improver kit on it though. And put in a Yank converter right before he torched the car.
