Alright so i have searched al over on this topic and no one gives a full straight answer so is why i am asking. I have a 97 4door 2.2 3 spd, and a 2000 2200 4 spd. My 00 frame is done, but i have a brand new motor and transmission in it. The 97 is mint but the motor is over 300k. So my plan is to swap BOTH the motor and tranny from the 00 to the 97. I want to know if this is a straight forward plug and play thing or do i have to rewire the whole car with the 00 wires. I was thinking all i need is the 2200 pcm, bcm, cluster, engine harness. Anything else. I really need the solid full info on this it would be well appreciated.
To my knowledge, you will have to strip them both down completely & swap
everything over.. but since you have the "doner" car, it will make it easier for you. Most would say it's not worth the labor involved for it not really being an upgrade, however, if you are on a budget, then go for it.
Hmm i thought the crossmember, suspension and all other driveline except for tranny, motor and axles were the same. I dont mind the time on labour i have a full garage with every tool nedeed. I just want to know about the wiring and any issue involving the egr valve from the previous motor to a newer one without one.
I want to swap, motor, tranny, pcm, bcm, cluster and shifter assembly. Should it not just fire up (except the possibility off a relearn.
I also forgot to mention if it makes a difference that the 97 is a 4 door and 00 is a 2 door.
