Anyone know where Lenko gets his info?
Saturday, February 20, 2010 5:34 PM
I have seen the post about Lenko taking a break from here and/or leaving. I'm curious where he got all his production number info from. I want to find out how many 2000 Z24's were built with Aquamarine paint. If you look in a 2000 dealer brochure indigo blue is not a listed color. Aquamarine is the only blue shown.

The reports of me "leaving" are highly exaggerated. Taking a break, yes.. Leaving entirely? No. I'm usually lurking in chat, in case you need info..

I got the production numbers from a guy named Daniel Flores at GM. Unfortunately, it's mostly the model year breakdown and plant production, not broken down by colours or option packages as some GM cars are. I have asked a few different sources for colour info, and I am always given the same answer - "that information is not available". Could be that no one wants to take the time to type it in an email... could be that it's just not there. Your guess is as good as mine.

The Indigo Blue colour was introduced for the 2001 model year. Aquamarine Blue Metallic was the only blue available in the 2000 model year, yes.

John.

This will tell you which cars have the same options as your car, and how many cars have more options than you, pretty cool. It also lists out all the options your vehicle has.

http://www.compnine.com/vid.php

You can also uncheck everything except for your color to find out how many cars had that color.

My Cavalier was a 2000 Z24 in Indigo Blue. Yes it was one of the first ones they made. They started to roll off Indigo Blues in Feb of 2001 for the 2000 model year. It was the main reason why I went ahead and bought my Cavalier.

I work at a GM dealership and have no way of finding out that is why I asked. My 2000 Z that is indigo blue was built 4/19/2000. I have only seen one 2000 Z in aquamarine come through my dealer for repairs. It did have a steel fueltank so I would think it was built in late 1999.

And Lenko, I wasn't trying to step on any toes with this. Didn't see any recent posts you had been in so thought you were taking a break as I had read was happening. What everyone says is true. You are the ALL KNOWING about the j-body platform.

Did you mean Feb 2000? Because a car built in Feb 2001 would be a 2001 model.

I love finding those odd variant cars... ones that don't exactly match what was actually available... they are rarer than the white vinyl interiors

That's pretty mint! I checked out all my current and past J's.. and the production numbers match what GM had given me.. so I'd venture to say it's accurate. I wonder where they get their info from??

I was pretty pumped when I put my VIN through that, my car was the only Cav made in 98 with that many options.

1 of 24,600

huh? what do you mean the ONLY one? im lost.

my 98 has absolutely everything you could get. except for maybe the digital odometer... i cant remember if that was a late 98 option or a 99+ only thing...

i wanna type in my 97 and see how many were made... i have NEVER seen another z24 with the lack of options mine does. it has absolutely NOTHING.

Well it only compares it to the Cavs made in that year, so mine is the only one in 98. Also mine is red, so it separates it from your car. I haven't played much with unchecking the color or anything.

Basically it's just saying that my car was the only car made that year with the options it has, and there were no other cars made with more options that year.

lol all right... went and did it. i guess my 97 aint as rare as i thought...

Quote:

Found 26,885 vehicles matching your year and model in our database.

then it said...

Quote:

There are 1 1997 CAVALIER Z24 2 DR vehicles (0.004 matching your exact options list. There are 1 (0.004 with at least as many options.

so what gives?

----------------------------------------------------

98 z:

Quote:

Found 24,600 vehicles matching your year and model in our database.

wtf? LESS than my 97? wow.. never would have guessed that.

and....

Quote:

There are 23 1998 CAVALIER Z24 2 DR vehicles (0.093 matching your exact options list. There are 43 (0.175 with at least as many options.

So it means just that, you have the only car made that year with that exact options list, however there are 23 made in that year that have more options than you do.

Mine looks like this:

Quote:

Found 24,600 vehicles matching your year and model in our database.

Quote:

There are 1 1998 CAVALIER Z24 2 DR vehicles (0.004 matching your exact options list. There are 1 (0.004 with at least as many options

So I have the only car made that year with those options, and the only car made that year with that many options. So it was the most options packed coupe produced that year.

I wish you can check it against all the years...

Then there is this explanation right under that

Quote:

My car is really common, why does this indicate that it's rare?

If you parked your car next to one of the hundreds or thousands of similar cars in our database you probably couldn't tell them apart, but that doesn't mean they aren't different.

For example, some may have an RPO listing for the plant in which they were built. If yours was one of only a few that came out of that plant with a given list of options, it would come back as rare. Another car may have all the same options but was built at a different facility and thusly it's considered different.

All of the VINs I tried came up as 'the only car with those options'... keep in mind, there's a bunch of "unk"(nown) RPO codes listed, the combination of which is probably specific to your vehicle. If you remove those, you'll probably find hundreds if not thousands of cars that are the same as yours. I'm going to play with it a bit later

John.

I played with it a little the way John was saying, and as far as I can see, My option combination is pretty uncommon?

Out of 149,242 vehicles matching your year and model,

First result with all options checked, 2 the exact same, And 2 with more options.

Quote:

There are 2 1996 CAVALIER 2 DR vehicles (0.001% ) matching your exact options list. There are 2 (0.001% ) with at least as many options.

Second with all "UNK" removed, Mine is 1 of 3.

Quote:

There are 3 (0.002% ) with the RPO codes you selected.

Third with all "UNK" and body color removed, Mine is 1 of 9.

Quote:

There are 9 (0.006% ) with the RPO codes you selected.

Fourth with just the body color removed, Again, 1 of 3.

Quote:

There are 3 (0.002% ) with the RPO codes you selected.

So if I'm reading this right, Mine is fairly rare in it's own way???
