Most people can't figure out the two-piece ones.. if you can push the middle in enough to make it pop, it usually works just fine.

I've used both... never had any problems. As long as you set it, and it pops out.... you're good to go.

I have only ever come across one style of tensioner in the 2.4 and I assume its the 2 piece. Have never had any issues with it at all.

You can get the 1 piece by asking for a 96 2.4. I have had bad luck with the 2 piece ones. We had 6 of them, 3 new 3 used. All but one did not work. If I'm working on a 2.4 and delaing with the timing chain then I will have to have a 1 piece or I wonlt work on it. Too many times getting screwed with the 2 piece.
