hi guys

im considering swapping a 3400 v6 in my z24 1995
i know i need to swap my tranny for a tranny from a 2.2l or 2200
but what i want to know is is it the same mouting from my 2.3l tranny to 2.2l tranny???
or i have to modified to whole thing?
and what would be my options with my 95 z24
what engine year?
from which car?
is it easier to run aftermarket guauges or piggy back my actual cluster?
oh and my car is not a obdII it's a obdI so i dont have the theft system thing....

thanks for the help guys

The transmission mounts will be the same for the 2.2 transmission.

The year of the engine doesn't matter if you are going to use the ECM and wiring harness that comes with it. However, if you are going to use something different (in your instance, it might be easier to use a 94 3.1 ECM and harness), you would want to take into account the injectors, particularly. A 99 or 00 3400 should have the high impedance injectors, which will work with the older ECM easier. You can have a 3.1 computer reprogrammed (chip burned) to work with the Multec II injectors. It's best to talk to the guys on 60DegreeV6.com about that stuff. If you do use a 3.1 computer, you'll need the adapter for the older EGR valve, or a blockoff.

For the transmission, as long as you get the Isuzu from a 2.2 car, it will bolt right in, and use your same axles.

For the gauges, the easiest thing is to run aftermarket, but there are ways to get factory gauges to work. I'm not sure if you can do it with the chip burning programs, but the data stream in the computer may be able to be redefined to match your car. Somewhere on one of my drives I've got all the data stream definitions for the 90's GM vehicles. If the chip burner would let you access that section of the program, it would simply be a matter of replacing the description. I haven't really looked into this in a while, because I have aftermarket gauges myself.

Also, check the GP forum. I just put up a 3400 adapter mount in there for doing the swap.
