2200 question
Saturday, June 07, 2008 4:04 AM
I'm looking at a 98 cav that is motor and tranyless. It was 2200 OHV with an auto trans, if i could find a decent pre-00 2200 would it just be a drop in, plug and play. The front end is damaged on the car, so i'm using all my stock parts from my 01 z and converting the front end into a 00+, so what would be involved in the rewiring and mounting of the headlights there?

There's no pain like wrecking your first J

you will have to remove the brackets from the front of your fenders, the ones that the marker lights attach too. then buy the newer headlight / marker light brackets. you are going to need the headlight harness too. you may or maynot have to move wires around in the harness plug to get it to work.

98 is the last year for the egr so just be sure to use the ecm that comes with the new engine or get the old one reflashed to the new engine. I also seem to recall the knock sensors might be different .

i did the front end swap from my 95 base to the 00+ all i did was buy the headlights and corners i ground off the part where the original corner bolts to and bolted the headlights to the stock body mounts. as for wiring just go to a yard and get the 9007 sockets ask for 1-2 ft of wire on them i payed $10 for both. and wire them yourself. just get a multimeter and a chilton mannual and u should be set
