Well, Im still playing with the idea of swapping in the eco. But I always like a challenge of being an underdog, and not doing what everyone else does. So with that being said, I currently have the 2200 ohv in my 00 cavy. It has a full exhaust from the header back and an intake. Thats it as far as performance is concerned. My goals for the car are a very mild, but fun and driveable car. I mostly plan on autox'ing the car, so Im not going to go to crazy with engine mods. I'd like to get 125-135whp out of the 2200ohv. What would be the easiest and fastest way to get there, without forced induction? Headwork, and a cam? Any recommendations from the 2200 guru's? Thanks

You got it, headwork and a cam will easily get you 130 HP to the wheels. A good port and polish, and a more agressive cam will do wonders for the engine.
I am in noooooo way a guru about this engine or any other especially compared to guys like mad jack and notec but I have been following the posts about guys portin gtheir own heads and am very heavily considering doing it. I really want to learn how to do it and it is an excellent mod with our engines because the head is very restrictive and very flawed in the metal. I am looking at trying to cool down the engine bay as well. I am kinda in the same boat as you I want to autox with this car and want some more power but at the moment spending about 2-3 grand on a turbo kit is a big deal. I have focused on my suspension more.
the things you are going to hear are
WHY ohv they suck screw them they arent worth doing it bla bla blah.
The other is search. I highly recommend it, this will really teach you a lot and then you don't get hassled by the guys that love to hate on the LN2.
Ive been searching alot, and got alot of good info so far, but just figured that I would ask anyhow. Most people seem to want more than the amount of power that Im looking for.
I found a couple of used heads on ebay for the 2200, but I dont have the resources to do my own headwork, nor do I have the know-how. And unfortunately I don't have any good shops within a reasonable distance, so Ill probably be shipping the head out somewhere if I go this route.
I was searching some other threads and found this link for a cam....Im guessing though that I could get a custom grind with the same specs, for a bit less than the $300 they are asking for......

And as far as the LN2 haters....I really don't care, its my car...not urs.

There is a lot to learn in old posts about the LN2
Do some diggin man
Oh no dude I agree I have an ln2 and I agree with it being their car they can mod it how they like I won't tell somebody what to do unless they are doing something unsafe. About the resources on the head work look around lately there has been a thread on a guy doing his own head work most of the guys use a dremel and buy a kit that some companies sell online along with books. So it really isn't terribly out of reach. My plan is to buy a spare ln2 head at the junk yard and work on it that way if i screw up it's no big deal.
Im not a 2200 but basically the same, my old motor which was built with 10:1 compression, all forged internalls, major head work and the top feed conversion with ford green top injectors put down 130whp and 143tq.
3400 SWAP DONE. 187WHP 212TQ (14.4 @96MPH NA) 240WHP 310TQ (N2O)
I did a search for the top feed conversion for the ford green tops, but came up empty, how would I do that conversion and where could I get those injectors?
You have a 2200, you already have top feed injectors
The 2.2 guys have side feed
in our race cars which are carb'd ln2's we run flat top pistons with eagle rods and a mediocre cam. we put down 170 at the wheels
I would research your cams more....those ones at IPP are not what they advertise them as. But yeah, cam, lifters, p&p, that will give you the most gain, and there is TONS of info on the best setups for your goals.
If you are tkaing the head off for that, you might want to think about a thinner head gasket (like cometic) to boost your C/R without changing (& buying) pistons.
There are plenty of parts out there now, from several good companies....most of which have been discussed multiple times in multiple forums.
There are also plenty of guys (some mentioned above) that REALLY know this motor, and who like to share thier knowledge. But NO ONE likes repeating themselves, so PLEASE do search first.

Not LS1 lifters, that is not a direct swap.... you mean the lifter SPRING conversion...
Definitely do some reading there is
a lot out there....

nope, I have side feed. I am a 2.2, not the 2200.
