OK.. I've been searching and I can't seem to find what I'm looking for... which is strange because I swore there was a thread a while back (that I even posted in) that had the info I need... but oh well.
I'll be installing my Autometer Oil pressure gauge on my 2.4 in the near future and was wondering some things..
First of all.. it's an Autometer electrical oil pressure sending unit.
I'm pretty sure the thread it 1/4" NPT but not 100% sure.
I'm going to thread it into the stock oil pressure switch location on the cam tower.
I'm wondering if it will clear my IDI cover if I just use the 1/4" adapter that comes with it (makes it a little longer) and thread it in, or if I have the lengthen it at all.
Thanks everyone...
Do your coil swap, then you wont have to worry about your IDI cover
I had to extend mine, not because of the IDI, but cam tower.

When ever I get around to doing a coil swap.... I still plan on using the IDI cover so that won't really matter.
I'd just rather know for sure if it will fit or not before I remove the stock sensor... and if it doesn't... what I need to do to make it clear... so I can just do it in one shot, rather than finding out it doesn't... have to put everything back to gether.... drive to the store... fiqure it out... and try again.
Hopefully it will stop downpouring eventually and I can pop my hood and at least get a rough estimate.
The head is 1/4" npt, the sending unit is 1/8" npt.
It will fit if you just put a 1/4" - 1/8" NPT adaptor into the cam tower and then the autometer sending unit and dump the stock unit...
Alternatively you can put a 2" 1/4" npt pipe extension in, and then the sending unit, or an extension, then a Y, then the sending unit. (1/4" to 1/8" adaptor before the sending unit)
Whatever you do, don't overtighten it into the cam tower.
Good luck.

Slowly but surely may some day win this race...
Sweet thanx.... the sending unit comes with the adapter so I should be good....
As for the stock switch... it will most likely go on the shelf some where and when I figure out how the oil light is wired (if power equals light on or off)... I'll wire it accordingly so the oil light isn't on.

The oil light will not come on from taking the stock oil sending unit out.
