2004 Chevy Cavalier Base model coupe, Manual trans, ABS $4,995 -- 57,200 miles.
This is at a local dealership near me and even KBB still puts this at $6,400. Does this seem too good to be true? I know the MSRP'd at 9,999 way back in the day. I'm going to look at it tomorrow when my mom gets back from seattle and we drop her car off to have the water pump replaced and timing belt.
My mom has been complaining of a bad knee for years now and finally her dr. told her to get rid of her manual transmission SXT neon we bought new 5 yrs ago and recently has been giving us problems. It over heated on her last week and i determined today that its the water pump and these are belt driven off the timing belt which is a bitch to get to on them. I thought it was a cracked radiator since she nailed a deer carcus with it and bent the lower rad support up. That checked out negative today when i pulled it. I could fix the water pump in it for her, but also the clutch is starting to slip in first gear, which i've noticed for a while now.
So since she needs a new car thats automatic, i told her i would trade her my PT cruiser with 49k miles on it ( just needs new tires, and i would do a coolant flush and change the bad wheel bearings on it for her) she trade in her neon and get me a cavalier or sunfire with low mileage that if something breaks on one of those, it wouldn't be hard for me to fix anything.
What do ya all think?
That looks like a really good deal.
See if you are able to take it for a drive and also ask if it can be put on a hoist and check it out underneath. If you are really concerned, there is always carfax...
That's not too good to be true. I bought my Base '03 coupe with 47k miles on it for $5k. Jump on that man.
Sounds like a good deal!.. I've worked on a ton of ecotecs and I've never seen any leaks, CEL's are usually the evap codes from the gas cap, I have seen just one with a bad CV boot because someone twisted the brake line and it rubbed on the CV boot and tore both the line and the boot eventually

Yea, i'll probably ask the dealership for a carfax report. I should have done that with my sedan, as i later found out it has been in a fender bender. The passenger side fender had been repainted along with the door. But yea, even if my mom doesn't approve of this, i think i am still going to buy it. I have extremely good credit and my payments would be like a $100 a month.
No need for extended warranty either, i have my entire doner car for my own eco swap all parted out. Lol.
dont ask the dealer for the carfax, get one yourself or from a friend. Although the dealers are ALWAYS honest.......
I picked up my 03' base coupe, 5-speed for $6K. The only problem i have is P0440 and sometimes P0442, damn emissions.
*edit* It had 45-46K miles on it, im now at 56K.
