Not sure if this is the right place to post this or not, but here's my question.
I have a 98 Sunfire convert that I'm using as my daily driver..gotta say I love the way it handles in the snow! but I'm having an issue with the front passenger window. When I close the door, the window will not seat properly in the rubber seals. It's rests on the outside. The drivers door closes and seals fine. While it's not a major issue yet as it's cold and snowing, when the weather warms up, I'm concerned about major water leakage. I can close the door by the glass to get it to seat under the seal, but if you just shut the door, then it sits on top....so everytime I have a passenger get in the car, I have to close the door for them to make sure the window is seated properly. Now it also happens if I lower the window and raise it back into place...it's outside the seals.
Anyone have any idea how to fix this? I'm slowly getting to the point to where the car will have to go.....
lol.... from what I understand you are saying its eather poping over the top seal of the rear window isnt comming all the way up. Here is the fix for both. (its what I did)
Rear window not lining up? I took it to a top shop and had them adjust the gear in the 1/4 panel that the window goes up and down on when the top goes up and down.
Top seal problem.......repalce the seals and also the chance that your top is shrunk too.
Post a pic so I can really tell you.

its eather poping over the top seal at the top of the window or the rear window isnt comming all the way up.
I think he means the door glass is coming up too far... which is my car's current problem. But if I roll it down a tiny bit, then it leaks like a sieve at the front corner.
There's adjustments in the door itself... stops and alignment bolts... I have to play with mine to get it to sit proper.
There was a post awhile ago that i printed out on how to fix the drivers side window alignment problem that are well known with verts.I'll try to find the link,it may be the same fix for the pass. side.

I tried to take some pictures this weekend of what was happening....they just don't show the details.
What is happening, as best as I can describe it, is this. When I close the door, the window glass does not seat in the middle of the seal. If I push on the glass while closing the door, it will 'force' seal, but I really don't want to have to push on the glass to get it to seat properly. Rolling the window down and back up again does not seat it either, it still 'rides' on the outside of the seal. This is primarily at the point where the header meets the top. I've owned several convertibles (Chrylser and Buick) and never had this problem. They also had vinyl tops (not cloth). BTW, this problem just started about 2 weeks ago. Until then, it sealed fine, so I can't image it's shrinkage, though it is possible. It's not to much of a major issue yet, as it's winter...I'm concerned about spring/summer with the rain. The way it sits down, there will be a steady stream of water running down the inside of the window, and that's not good on many different levels. I bought this car to improve my MPG (which it has) and wanted a little fun too.....but this is starting to wear on me.....
Once the weather warms up a bit (it was -10 this morning) and I have some time, I'll run it up to an upholstery / top shop and see what they have to say. Any other suggestions would be great.
Driving your car in bad weather ? My car hasn't left the garage in a month. I would like to buy new weatherstripping, but it is too expensive, if it's still available. Also I don't want to put too much money into it, I would like a new Camaro vert when they come out.
Yep...it's my new daily driver. I handles great in the snow, has a decent heater (not quite a good as my old Lebaron) and gets fairly good gas mileage. I used to have an 86 Sunbird hatchback and I love that car. So when it came time to buy a commuter car, the Sunfire was high on my list...when I found this convert, I bought it....I get my winter handling and my summer fun all in one car!
