1998 Sunbird won't shift out of park. Pressed hard on brake pedal but no luck. Rocked car back and forth thinking it may have jammed and still nothing. What's wrong? How do I get this thing out of park? Is there a override release anywhere to bypass the brake lockout?
Check the brake lights!! if you dont have that signal it won't shift. check the fuse for them also
guessing auto tranny? check the shifting bracket on top of the tranny.. those nuts on it can vibrate loose.. happens.. use some med strength loc-tite
