This almost has to be a map sensor problem right?

My cars been having issues before, but this one I'm having a hard time getting rid of.

My 2.4 seems to cut out or hesitate below 2 grand bad sometimes, even cough and pop pretty bad. I've noticed that how far I have the throttle open plays a huge factor in how bad it is. The more gas the worse it is, and throttle response off idle is horable unless I barely tap the pedal. At higher rpms the car seems fine.

I'm thinking that the map sensor might be having trouble sensing the changes in vaccum and load on the engine. Also, when I have the a/c on, it seems to put enough load on the engine to make the problem go away sometimes. Does it sound like I should just replace the map sensor, or if it's something else. thanx.

Could also be the TPS sensor. You could give it a quick test with a voltmeter if you have one.

I would check all vaccum lines for leaks. No CEL light?

Sounds like the coil tower is junk. Poping is the wrong cylinder firing. Usually caused by the spark jumping through a hair line crack in the plastic. Map sensor will turn the mil on if that was it. I have seen in range failures on tps sensors, which dont cause a mil light response. This has to be checked with a meter to see a smooth range of resistance. A vacuum leak should also turn on the engine light.
My bet would be on the coil tower. Especially if it happens when the engine is under a load.
