Totally frustrated
Monday, June 04, 2007 7:24 AM
I have been searching now for three months for a window regulator for my 97 Cavalier Convertible. I am unable to find anything except for the coupe which will not fit. I have called all of the local dealers, and the only one that would give me a part number, gave me the one for the coupe. The dealers that did find the correct part tells me it's against company policy to give out part numbers. Where can I find part numbers? I enter a google search to find part numbres, and only come up with sites that can do a search on part numbers, which if I had one I would be fine. The ones that I did find the part that I'm looking for are over priced to the point of being rediculous, and they suppresses the part number.

Why are the part numbers for a driver's side power window regulator on a 95-00 cavalier convertible such a closely guarded secret as though it would risk homeland security to reveal it?

What I find most inane is that I can find part numbers for this part on 88-94, and 01-07 none of which will fit.

I would really appreciate some help. I would hate to think I have to either scrap or part out my car because I can't fix a window problem.

Thanks,

Jim.

It looks like GMpartsdirect.com lists them for the convertible, but they list a few different items depending on which window, etc. Just browse their catalog for the 1997 Cavalier, and look under the "Mechanical" tab for "Window Motors and Regulators". That should set you up. It looks like the driver's side regulator is part number 12362900, and they want about $250 for it.

Thank you very much!!!

12362901 is the correct one I need, and at 252 and change, it's about 300-275 cheaper than the others I have found so far. Now that I have the part number, I may even be able to find one even cheaper!

Thanks again!!!!

Jim.

Yeah, find a 95-00 Cavalier in a junk yard and pull the regulator. Much cheaper than buying one new.

And since I don't know how to edit my previous post, they don't want to give you the part number because they don't want you getting it from somewhere else for cheaper. Not that pissing you off by not giving it to you is going to get them your business in any way.
