Got a call from my wife that the headlights/dash lights will not come back on, was driving and they went out. Drove to her work, check all the fuses, all where fine, if i started the car the drl would come on so i knew the lights were not bad.
Start to play around with the switch and all. still nothing, moved the steering wheel, and all of a sudden the dash lights came on but no headlights. pulled the lever for brights came on, then went off, hit the steering wheel.....all lights come on, took for a drive and stayed on fine. came back moved steering wheel, light out again, move back up, dash light, hit steering wheel headlights again, but never can keep the brights on,
So there is a short/bad connection in the switch or the steering wheel. Anyone ever have this problem before? And ideas on what this might cost, be cool if just replacing the light switch/crusie lever will fix this,(hard to replace)but not sure,
thanks in advance for any help!!
Anyone?
this is for a 2002 coupe..
Thanks
multifunctio sitch may be shot, but i would start trouble shooting it first and see where the problem is. get out your voltmeter.
Injection is nice but id rather be BLOWN!
What whitegoose said if not the switch start probing some of the wiring check the ground connections etc if a wire isn't properly grounded it could cause it to short intermittently
Thanks,
How hard are these things to change? i'd hate to spend the $$ for the switch and stil have the problem. moving the steering wheel around and working had me thinking it might be in that somewhere, not sure if they are still like this but on an old 87 car in hs the horn would go off if you made a sharp turn, found out there is hornrign(i belive is what is was called) that got messed up....cruise would not work unless the wheel was fully turned. that was simple. but with the airbag right there, really dont want it to blow up in my face even if battery is disconnected can still go off.
disconnect the battery and pull the fuse for good measure.
only time ive ever done a multi switch was on my brother in laws interpid. that wasnt fun, but then again it was a chryler so everthing had to be reverse engineered.

i have 2 96 Z24s THEVE both went out take about 5-10 min to install.. almost certain its your blinker/headlight/hazard switch should be like 60-70 new or u can check out ebay
Thanks for the help guys!!
Anyone have instructions for removing this, i have still yet to find a 2002 manual for my wifes car. according to the local dealer is 1.5 hrs of labor.
Again thanks for all your help
well since brandon has done it twice now, the second time probably only took him 5-10 minutes. i would prepare for a good hour of work between taking it apart and putting it back together. shouldnt be very hard, but im sure its in a haynes manual or on mitchell1.com.
just take your time and dont rush anything, that is the key.
