from what i've noticed from readin here and tryin some myself, you wont notice much of a difference btwn a $30 ebay intake and a $200 AEM one, so basically if money is not an issue go wiht the one that looks better, otherwise save yourself some cash and get a decent "cheap" one

someone correct me if i'm wrong

I'd say the weapon r. The Secret Intake has a diff. design in the pipe as any other ones, seems like it would actually increase the air flow. But that's just me, alot of people would say AEM

if u want some serious gains and a real low sound to your engine your best off with going with an AEM Cold air intake. thats the best way to go. my friend with a 2002 Celica GT has an AEM CAI, and it sound like a f*ing muscle car. and paired with his TRD exhaust his car is as fast as my '05 Cavy.

AEM I got the cold air, and i love it. Also weighs less after you remove all the stock crap.

http://www.rdfabs.com/22noneco_caint.asp check out this page and if this inst your motor go to the intake link on the right hand side and there is a list that will come up with all the intakes they make for sunfire and cavys. the weapon r intakes are garbage. aem is good but there isnt many to chose from. ingen is okay but same problem not many to chose from. the intakes on the rdfabs are the best one that i have found. im going to purchase it sometime in the near future. i need $$$$

or you can just build your own. buy the tubing and filter from eBay, then go somewhere like High Temp Silicone for the couplers. I think even Napa and some other stores carry the couplers and the filter.

a lot of ppl say to build your own. I dont have that kind of time so i got the AEM short ram for my Z. i would say to get the AEM, decent power gains and the fitment was flawless. no matter what intake you buy, WAI or CAI, they will all perform just about the same. you dont have to buy the clutch reservoir bracket, you can always use zip-ties to keep it in place. since you have a Z, no matter what intake you buy, u will have to relocate the clutch reservoir.

I installed an AEM on my '03. Get the cold air version, your engine sucking hot air
isn't good for HP. I bet it shaved 20lbs off the stock tubing and it ROARS when you
stomp on it.

I have a 2003 Cavalier and an AEM CAI and I love it....it's quiet when u want it to be but if you hit it, it can roar very nicely.

True, but the actual temperature of the air in either the WAI or the CAI are just about the same. no matter what you do, the air has to travel through the engine bay, thus heating the air in the intake tube. so whether you get cold air at the point of entry into the intake and it gets heated up by the engine, or start with warm air it doesnt matter. someone on here took the time to measure the temps of the air in both a WAI and a CAI, guess what, they were only different by a degree or two. Plus why do you think that AEM only makes a WAI for a 2.4L? i read on their site that they only make the WAI because there is no added benefit to use a CAI!

thanks for all the input. i think i'm gonna go ahead and get the aem intake for my 2.4. quick question though, what does the clutch reservoir look like? just so i know what i have to zip tie. if anyone has any pics it would be greatful, thanks.

do a member search for Steevereeno. he has a nice pic of it. if you look to the right side of the engine bay in the back, right next to the strut tower, there is a little white tank, thats the clutch reservoir. you will easily find this out when you install it, the reservoir is attached to the stock air box near the rear of the engine bay.
