I need to get a new header for my car, the stock flex pipe under the trans is pretty much gone, so it needs to be fixed, but im wondering if i get a new header will it bolt up to the stock pipe past that point, right to the cat? or will i need some fab work?
and are there any headers that will do this if the pacesetter doesnt?

the pacesetter will connect after the the flex pipe before the cat. a clamp comes with the header to clamp it to the stock exhaust system but you are better off taking it to an exhaust shop and having them weld it on.
You can do it but its not going to help any with the stock cat.

ha, well my problem lies with the flex pipe, as its falling apart for some reason, so i was looking to just get it replaced, and i wanted to start building an exhaust, anyone recommend me a cat that will work well for a reasonable price?
I assume that if i get a header and a cat and take it to a shop that they can rid me of the flex pipe problem, or do i neeeeeeed that in there?
The pacesetter has a ball and socket flex joint, no need for another one. I would suggest the magnaflow 94035 cat and a resonator to tone it down.

I have the Magnaflow high flow cat with a resenator a i personally love it, so that would be my opinion also
i got the 4 to 1 header with the downpipe and i just slipped it over the stock piping. i think the end of the downpipe is too big to just clamp on since i had like a quarter inch gap still after put the stock in the DP hole. great when ur drivin around its hella loud just watch for the cops.

o yea also for the downpipe get a 2 1/4 high flow cat and have them cut off the end of it. for like 6-8 inches its smaller then the rest, i had it cut off otherwise the exhast shop will porbly just slide the new exhaust pipe over it, prolly doesnt make a difference in performance but just thought i'd tell ya

If your just looking at replacing it. Just call GM and find out what the warranty on the exhaust is. I think it's 7 year rust warranty on the exhaust system. If it is just the flex pipe maybe you can get it replaced for nothing.
Doesnt hurt to phone and ask or talk to your local GM dealer for them to find out. As far as I know it is a 7 year. Or maybe that is paint/rust warranty. I cant remember.
