I recently got a 03 Cavalier LS about a month ago. And just last night, the dome lights started going crazy on me. When the car is on and I am moving it will stay off, and the light switch\dial works normally. but then when I come to a complete stop the dome light comes on! and when I start moving again it comes back on again. any idea as to what could be causeing this?
make sure both doors r close all the way
"make sure both doors r close all the way"
OMG im so dumb ive been driving down the road with my doors open!
actually no that was the first thing i tried to do and ive opened\closed both doors the truck and even the hood several times. and now its gotten worse the dome light wont go off after i park it wtf?
One of the door pins is not working properly. Check them both, cheap to replace from GM.
Actually auto parts stores can get them in now, cheaper than getting them from GM.

yea, after putting up with this for several days now it seems pretty obvious that is the problem.
Those pins seem like they might be hard to replace, anybody have any experience replaceing them?
Just open the door and pull on the pin. I will come out with force. Ulplug the wires on the back and plug in the new one. Push the new one in and you are done.
When the light is stuck on and you want tofind out which door switch is faulty..just disconnect the connector(in tha "A" post). You'll see the push buttom in the "A" post on each side..just tug on the outter shell and the sensor and it will come out..then liek i said disconnect the connector..if the light goes out, that switch is faulty(providing that it also would not put the dome light out if it was pushed in)
Also untill you get a new swicth, you can just keep the faulty one off and the dome light issue will not happen when driving..or stay on over night and kill your battery
ok sounds good, thanks for the help
the same thing happend on my father's jimmy.
use some wd40 or jigaloo then put some on your pin. After, pull and push that pin several time and it should work.

That's mainly if there's corrosion due to like road salt..but it's worth a shot
Corrosion for us here in mtl is just insane..
