Not too long ago I replaced my rotors and pads. Hawk HPS if anyone cares. I noticed today that the two sides are nearly half of the thickness off compared to each other!! I plan to lube the caliper pins with some silicon, but I don't see how this happened. Anyone have any ideas? Now I'm gonna wear out real quick on one side but not the other.

Got the same problem with the power slot slotted rotors and Hawk performance pads.
Its a great combo, However when i replaced both Outer tie rod ends yesterday, i checked all my brake pads and and a few other parts. Its been Only 6 months, and the driver side pads are almost down to their backings, and the passanger side is about half way there.
Now when i first did the brake job, i replaced the old brake lines with Steel braided lines, New hold clips, new Caliper pins - well greased. And the driver side is at the point where i have to do my brakes again. yesh.
Is this normal with the Hawk pads? If so, i might as well as save a few bills and get raybestos.

On one side of the car or one side of each rotor? If its only one side of the car, you may have a sticky caliper. Does the car pull to one side when you let off the wheel? If both sides are only wearing one pad (either inner or outer), it could be one of several things.
When you take the sliders out to lube them, take a good look at them. If they're not smooth and look like hell, you may want to replace them.
When you say "slider" you mean the caliper pins? And I meant that each side has uneven wear. So both fronts have the exact same problem.

lube em always....
if they stick, replace em or use crocous cloth on em to somewhat "smooth" em back out and then grease....
uneven pad wear is usually always related to the caliper sticking like said above.
