Powder coat brake drum?

This message is posted in a couple spots, not sure where it fits.


Has anyone powder coated thier brake drums? or just painted them? Just so they look better behind the rims.

You need a high temp powder coat or it will melt/burn back off. Yes it can be done, it's not cheap. High temp paint is cheaper.

Been down this road before, But glad to help you. Any paint will work. The drums do get hot yes but they don't get hot enough to burn off the paint unless something is wrong in there. I've been painting drums and calipers for like 20 years and all I've ever used is regular paint. Regular paint comes in alot more colors then high temp or engine paint does thats why I've always used it. You can use whatever you like but regilar old spray paint works just fine.
