Hey I just got my first J-Body and I'm very new to them. I'm very good with customizeing cars and stereos but have no XP in J-Body's. I'm looking to put my 1990 Z24 3.1L on air and was wondering if there is anything I should know before I start. I've done air in other cars befiore (none of my own) and I'm not going to buy a bolt in kit. By the looks of it the lowest point on the car is the oil pan. there for the car won't lay body. I plan on running front, back, side to side. if anyone knows ANYTHING that might be helpfull please let me know, including if I can get a shallower oil pan for the 3.1L. once again I know nothing about J-Body's but plan on learning fast. I also plan on shaveing the doors, if anyone wants to comment on that.

well im not sure about the 2nd gens, check the second gen forum and ask them about the oil pan. as for the air ride, just dont buy fittings from aim thats all i have to say.
Yeah. Read around this forum and you'll figure out which companies are good/terrible. Stay away from AIM. Easysteet is by far the most popular and the best bang for the buck IMHO. There are other good kits/parts out there. Use common sense, metal parts (aim makes their fittings out of plastic), stuff like that.
people still bashing aim i have never had a problem with them and as for easy street they dont make a kit for the 2nd gen. plastic fittings are worthless and so is plastic d.o.t, tubing. brass fittings and hard line is the only way to go. to get a 2nd gen to lay body is not really easy to do but can be done there is just a lot of cutting and fab work. if you want to see some pics let me know and ill post some. but good luck with what ever you decide to do.

i agree w/ the plastic fitting part but ive been running that hard plastic line for well over a year now, through all weather elements, even winter and ive never had a problem w/ them
i know that a lot of people run plastic line its just that i don't want to be going down the road and an air line bust open especially on the front.

Plastic VS. Metal:
1. Proper installation matters much more than material.
2. Plastic pipes can be just as strong as metal, even flimsy pipe is usually rated in the hundreds of psi.
3. Be sure you're using an appropriate material. Don't pick any old plastic pipe, like say garden hose, use pipe that meant to hold high pressure, and lots of it.
thanks for the input guys. I know my equipment. And I refuse to use bolt on kits. I can fab my own stuff alot better. any pics and info about getting a second Gen to lay would be great!!!. and doesn any one know how hard it is to to an engine compresore? I know there isn't much room under the hood. I'm going to have enough trouble with an alternatore for my stereo...
