allignment messed?
Tuesday, June 07, 2005 12:19 AM
i recently (4-5 months ago) got my alignment dont at gm because i got konis. well, now im having a problem. in order to drive straight, the wheel has to be SLIGHTLY turned. keeping the wheel completly straight causes the car to drift a bit to the right. is this an alignment issue? how can this be fixed? also, my car is under warranty, but i have aftermarket springs and shocks/struts; will it be covered? any help is welcomed. thx.

my car did that stock... but drifted to the left.... got my rims.. d-specs/ prokit.. got another alignment... and it was straight got about 3 weeks before it started to drift to the left again (hit some bumps too fast )

how was your car stock? did it do the same? it kinda sounds like that you did the same as me... hit a few bumps hard and put your alignment a tad out of wack.

I'm going to get another alignment as this wed or thursday after my replacement rear strut mounts get installed. I'll let you know if there was any alignment issue with the front.. the rear might change since they are taking it apart.

Could be your alignment, but it could also be your suspension. Make sure your struts are still working. I doubt its a warranty issue, but if it were, they could only void the warranty on the factory shocks/struts and springs (and maybe the mounts). It could also be your tires. Try rotating them.

A Tire Kingdom near me offers 5 year unlimited alignments for $150 and is transferrible once. You may want to find something like this near you if it proves to be a reoccuring issue.

readjust your konis first that could be the problem.

Does it do this everywhere or are you always "testing" it in the same place? A slight grade in the road could cause this as well.

na its on every street. at first i thought it might just be the road but ive tested it everywhere. i even tested the tire pressure to see if could be that and nothing.

i got mine done at a dealership too and it started to pull to the right after they did it. i would take it to a different shop with a good reputation once you get the money. thats what i'm doin when i get my sportline/d-spec setup on. i aint never takin mine to the dealership for nothin now that my warranty is out, they just screw you over. also, the suspension warranty is only good for 7,000 miles (they told me that when i got the alignment done, but i never found it in the warranty booklet). but you voided it any way by changin the setup

My 04 drifts to the right when driving with the wheel straight since new. Have to drive with the wheel turned about 1/2 inch left to stay lined up. May be the crown of the road that is pulling on the your car. If the roads in your area are as bad as those in the Belleville Ontario area thats most likely the issue.

because the rear toe and camber is out of spec from new. what you can do is get a custom alignment done where they shim the rear to get it to the spec you want. but you will need a shim kit and pay about 4hr's labor. but when it is done you will have a very nice driving car. that is easy in tires
