Hello,
Just wanted to know if anyone has the torque numbers for the subframe and control arm bolts. If you did you would be the coolest.
If you have those maybe you would have them for the transmission and motor mounts as well on a 2003 ECO 5 speed.
Thank you in advance.

I want to ask the same question too for my 1999 Z24. The Haynes and Chilton books list different torque specs for both the subframe and control arm bolts

. Anyone have the OEM book with the REAL specs?

'97 GM Manual says;
Crossmember Support bolts 110N-m (71 lb ft ) plus 90*
Control Arm Front 120N-m (89 lb ft) plus 180*
Control Arm Rear 170N-m (125 lb ft )

"In the entire history of man the only stupid questions are the ones that don't get asked"
Thanks John! One of the Haynes/Chilton had those specs correct, but I found it strange that the 3 different size subframe bolts all had the same torque spec.
Some helpful notes on the 99 Z24 subframe (not sure if this is same for new models)...
There are 6 subframe bolts total, 3 of each per side:
- Vertical bolts in center
- Long bolts on lower outsides
- Short stubby looking bolts with giant bushing/spacer on upper outsides (I think both Haynes and Chilton manuals forget about this)
If you plan on removing the subframe you can unbolt the two steering rack bolts (accessed from the front center of subframe) and use wire to hold the steering rack in place on the car while you remove the subframe from underneath it. You may have to beat on the mount points a little to losen the rack, but I found that this was much easier (and safer) then disconnecting the rack from the steering column. Also, remember to unlatch the plastic things that hold the brake lines to the subframe (another thing not mentioned in the manuals).
Hopefully this will help someone.

Why mechanics dont work on my car.
I tried the "torque them to what you think" method but I didnt like the results. I dont want to have to keep checking these damn things.
