thats not even half of it. they had it mostly unsprung.
I was waiting in anticipation the whole time I was watching it.
I jumped. Lol. Scared the @!#$ out of me.
"If I'm not back in 5 minutes...just wait longer"
I don't even use a spring compressor when doing J-Body coil springs, they are under almost no compression at all.
Just put a impact on the nut and loosen it till it pops, maybe jumps up an inch at most.
Hell you can compress the spring with one hand and thread the nut on the strut with the other when you put them back together...lol
I even took apart the struts on my Sunfire when it was brand new (2000mi on it) and it was the same.
I take no responsibility if this goes wrong for someone and they get hurt..lol
take your time and do it right, no issues ever.
under no circumstances should anyone try doing it without compressing the springs, despite some having 'luck' with it not killing anyone or removing a body part lol
how often do you jack up your car without jack stands on a hill without the brake on and the transmission in neutral? sure it might not fall..by why chance it?
04 Cav. 2dr. 5spd. My DD. 'Nuff said.
with stock springs you "should" use a compressor but with lowering springs you dont need one.
