So I did the neon rear disk swap on my cavalier. Have had it all together and this is the first its been nice out so I could take it out for a ride. The brakes work well but I am getting something thats rubbing. So I pulled it all back apart and found that my rotor was rubbing on my backing plate/ dust sheild. I was wondering if anyone else ever had this problem and if so did you cut the dust shield down?

I was just reading the sticky on this, and the guy wrote that he had to shim the rotor out about 1/16".

I have been running this swap for a year now,no problems at all.I shimmed the rotor out using some 1/2" washers (i think)whatever fits over the stud snug.I went to the hardware store with my micrometer and picked out about 24 washers the same thickness ,they vary a lot.Use them to space out your rotor.I think I only needed 1 per stud.Bought extra just in case.
just keep trimming the shield till it doesnt touch anymore, its only there to attach the parking brake shoes to for the most part. Unless you want the full cover on the rear of the disk that is.
I used washers to back out the rotor
