Body Roll

Alright, 97 cavalier circle track racecar. When we go in the corner it just lays on the right front tire and eats it up. It also carries the left rear tire all the way in the turn. I want to know if anybody knows of any way to reduce body roll. We run a gas strut on the right front. I tried spring clamps. I just need to figure out how to make the car sit back down in the rear and reduce as much body roll as possible. I also tried running a dead strut in the left rear. Any help would be great.

Got a sway bar on the front. Cant really put a sway bar on the rear. Its againist the rules. All its got is sway bar, one gas strut, lowering springs. I watched some cavalers going around the track on saturday and noticed none of them had body roll, but the car would bounce aroud the corner and down the straight-away in the rear like it had solid suspension. Those cars were so much faster than every other car.

are you allowed to use tie bars? k-braces? the k brace will help to stiffen your subframe and the tie bar should help with the body roll a bit, though nothing like a sway bar.

Where can i get a cheap k brace or a tie bar? I just want to make the rear suspension as solid as i can but low.

Grab a Z-24 trailing arm; It has a stiffening bar built-in. Works just like a sway bar.

This is just an idea, I have no experience setting up anything like you're looking for but I'm planning to install these springs on my car and half a set might help you.
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MOG-CC668/

They are Moog cargo springs for Sunfire/Cavalier cars, progressive wound, stock height springs. I remember reading that they are 25-30% stiffer than stock but I can't find the reference right now. I was thinking running one front spring or F&R on the right side might help , especially if you ran a lowering spring on the other wheel/s.

Like I said, just a thought.

Well I've come to a bit of discovery lately, the rear" sway bar that is sold for these cars isnt an actual sway bar and wont be covered under your rules. It basically just makes the twist beam in the back twist and bend less than it normally would, and that should reduce body roll. But in a different manner than a real swaybar would.

What kind of alignment specs are you running?

Gas strut versus what? What brand?

Leafy is correct. The stock type rear sway bar is not technically a sway bar, since it doesn't connect to the body. That's what you need. You might also try smaller diameter tires on the left.

Or, you might try using a larger bump stop if that is allowed in your class, or using spring rubbers like they do in NASCAR to increase the spring rate/ reduce spring travel.
