I have the convertible cavy bar btw:
Anyone have any creative ways of doing this? I was looking this morning and the computer has to be moved and the one picture I found had it zip tied to the strut bar lol. Also how hard is it to put a bolt threw the hole in the center of the bar to attach it to the fire wall? I know it is not hard to drill the hole, but I guess what I am asking is how hard is it to put a nut on the other side of the firewall? I am not trying to rip the dash apart tonight!
Take the plastic cover off under the wipers, there is a huge opening. That is the backside of that area of the firewall.
Thanks eco! That engine bay is nice!
Curious: When I pressure wash my engine bay do I have to be carefull about getting the CAI filter wet or anything else for that matter? The thing needs it really bad.
yes. you do not want your filter getting soaked. it will destroy your engine. and any exposed electrical connections should be covered.
Well hrmm! Guess I have to pull the filter off and then spray it.

Just put a plastic bag over the intake, thats what I do.

Problem is the intake needs cleaning also lol. Under the hood hasn't been cleaned since I bought it and the outside of the car hasn't been cleaned in a year. So I am going to spend a weekend cleaning it next weekend. Hopefully I can get all the crap off the bumper!
hand wash it. that's what i do
I went threw a carwash tonight and wow those things are amazing lol! Going to look at it in the morning, but the car needs a good washing under the hood, hand wash outside, and a good buff job!
Pics are always wanted, lol. You can also move the ECU
here. That's how I did it and doesn't require taking as much apart. But to each his own. After you move the ECU that stud that held the bracket on is close enough for you to mount the bar to, just reuse the nut.
Do you have cruise control? Because that will need to be moved also. I moved mine inside the cab right beside the steering column when I put my vert strut bar on.
And I always use a damp rag and wipe everything down under there, then sometimes follow up with Lexol Vinylex on all the rubber/plastic I can reach.
Anyone know what the black box with the computer is? I had an aftermarket cruise control put in and I think that might be the control unit for it.
Just wanting to make sure before I move it in the little area with the computer.
WTF! I've never seen that before. Guessing though since you said you had aftermarket cruise installed, thats probably it.

Wow that's weird, how does it hold the speed that you want? Anyway that is where the stock CC brain is located. As shown.
And with it gone and bar on. Excuse the dirt and cell phone quality
I have no clue exactly what that is or how the CC keeps its speed. That could also be for the alarm, but I don't know. Oh well it is getting moved to somewhere I think.
Well when you get it all done and clean post up some pics of your ride. Here or in the P&M forum.
I wonder if it could also be for the alarm? I don't see why it would, but you never know! Guess I will go by the place that installed the CC and ask them if it is from them and if it is find out where I can move it because that thing looks like crap!
If it just has an electrical connector then disconnect your battery and unplug the connector and move it where you want it.
I looked at it a little more last night and it does have a cable going to the throttle so I guess it is stuck where it is *bleh!*
Maybe I can paint it or something because the box and bracket look like crap, but I don't want to loose my cruise.
put mine inside under the cup holders and my cruise by the wiper trans.cleaned up the engine bay real nice and took very little time
I put mine behind the dash... cant see any wires, doesnt get hot and doesnt take that long to do. Biggest PITA was getting the damn connector thru the rubber grommet. Had to keep kutting the slit bigger and bigger.

Can y'all post the shot of where you moved the CC brain to? I am curious to see how it is mounted because I might go that route myself.
Also anyone know the size bolt/nut that goes thru the ecu bolt hole to mount it to that lip on the behind the FW?
computer moved! now trying to figure out how to mount the cruise behind the firewall! I need about a 6" longer cable if anyone has any ideas!
Why ya also moving the cruise??
