Clicking sound when car moves. Sound stops when braking?

This is more for my fiance then myself. She has a 03 4door cavalier. The front end just started to make a clicking sound when in motion. The sound stops when the brakes are applied. Are her pads and rotters shot? I have never heard that out of my cavalier.

Also check your cv boots/joints while you have that wheel off. Bad cv axles will click when you are turning....

Simple test: Find an empty parking lot. From a complete stop, turn the steering wheel all the way to the left. Now drive in a slow circle, with the windows rolled down. Stop when you get close to your original start position (won't be perfect due to vehicle understeer). Turn the wheel all the way to the right. Then repeat.

If you heard clicking during either one of these maneuvers, the cv joint/axle on the side that you are turning to needs to be replaced.
