Play in Tein Upper Mount

Hey guys

So since i brought my car out this spring i have noticed it feels like there is some play in the front end somewhere. So today i started chasing down the feeling and discovered that my tein pillow upper mount has developed play. What i am wondering is this normal? I thought the whole point of these mounts was to be solid and not have play. I installed them early last summer and for sure have no more 15000 Kilometers on them. Has anyone experienced this problem, or should pillow ball upper mounts always be solid?

Thanks

Hunter

Do you have pictures? Maybe there was a defective spherical bearing installed or one not lined with PTFE installed on your mounts on accident.

I don't know if pictures will help, its like a 1/16-1/8 play i can't measure it. but if i touch the ball of the mount with one hand and grab the steering knuckle with the other the play is up and down in the mount. I checked the nut on the top of the strut by the adjuster its good everything is tight. PTFE is plastic material?? And will OEM mounts work with tein ss-p coilovers?

My mounts will work on your car, just wondering why your bearings went bad. Yeah PTFE is liner for a bearings, helps them last much longer then the metal on metal ones.

So further investigation this evening revealed that both the drivers side mount as well as the passenger side mount have play. The play is only up and down like the way the struts move. I can't seem to get any side to side movement out of them. I don't think that play can help performance much?? And secondly are my mounts really pooched?? Has anyone had these issues before?

Hunter, if you want you can send me your mounts and I can fit some new bearings in there for you, thats not a problem. Probably looking at $75. Its cheaper then new mounts. Let me know. This is not a common problem, just wondering what type of bearings they use.
