After doing my brake job. I have no rear brakes and the pedal feels soft till its 2 inches from the floor. I have bleed the brakes multiple times and no air has came out. I have the Baer rear discs and wilwood front brakes. Does anyone know why the rear brakes arnt grabbing? Any help would be appreciated
I dont have the parking brake cabel hooked up could that be it?
Was the parking brake hooked up before?
If so, that could be the reason, although unlikely.
If not, it's a mute point.
I used to race cars, now I race myself.

ya it was hooked up before. But never worked and always dragged the right rear's pads. So i disconnected it.

I have no leakes anywhere and also there arnt any rubber lines that could be bulging. Im puzzled
Any suggestions would be appreciated
Master cylinder is on its way out
Did you just slap a new set of pads on, or did you install the rear disc setup? Another member here installed the calipers upside down, the bleeder screws weren't in the right spot and causing a problem very similar to this.

Doubtful, each chamber of the master will control one front and one rear brake.

Well i just slapped new pads/rotors on all 4 corners of the car. They lasted 70k miles
well today i re verified that there are NO LEAKS anywhere. There is no bulging in any lines. I did notice when holding the brake pedal down for about a minute with the car running that the level of the fluid went back up to the full line. could that mean the MC is going bad?
Also forgot to add .........
When i quickly tap on the brakes its hard a a rock really high then slowley just drops and gets soft.
Sounds like the MC to me.
2.2 97 Cavalier......the "Crapalier"
Any suggestions on which MC i should go with? the Wilwood one or the SSBC one
i like the ssbc ones personally.
but they will both work well for you, what bore are you going with?
the SSBC have a very nice appearance as well as functionality to them, which is why I like them.
The wilwood is a perfectly good option for your system if looks arent important though.
What all bore sizes are offered from each?
I am looking at the wilwood one right now.. But i dont want to modify the push rod! So tomorrow i am calling wilwood and also ssbc and see what they can do for me.
I havent heard anyone having to modify anything besides some brake lines for these.
Direct quote from SSBC
"Brandon: You will have to use a stock replacement master on your car; we do not have a replacement piece, all of our Cavalier kits use the stock master cylinder. "
Well i guess its time to contact wilwood SSBC failed. lol
