So among looking on ebay, I have noticed that the tein basics have seemed to jump in price almost $300. has anyone else noticed this?

Yes. All of Teins products went up in price.

I was shocked in how much they went up. Is this all due to the "economy"

Yep superstreets are up as well. You used to be able to score them for under 1200 on ebay - not anymore. I don't know the reason.

I would for any dd car the SS are overkill for a street car with the occasional weekend track days. You just end up never really putting the extra features of the SS setup to use.

In larry's case basics would be the best choice, should he get serious into autox or road course type events then I would say go SS.

Both setups well worth their price and both fully capable.

i know what you mean but for the same price you can do konis and ground control which imo is much better than the basics.

Having messed with both the basics are still much better then the koni/gc combo

Nothing wrong with the basics.. Had mine for 2 years now and love em. Ive riden in the Koni\Gc combo and wasnt impressed. All a matter of opinion I guess.

well just out of curiousity why would you pick the basics over the gc/koni combo? since they basics dont have adjustable damping, thats why i would assume the gc/koni would be better.

its all based on material costs......thats why a lot of these have drastically increased in price.

While they lack the dampening adjust ability they make up for it with their overall performance.

The dampening on the basics are at a very usable setting, both for road and track use. Most people just set and forget the dampening on a DD.

The basics are overall a much more competent DD/weekend warrior setup. For a more track oriented car tho I would go SS, but DD road manors of the basics are second to none.

but with the different spring rates that gc offers, i would think you could match, if not better the performance with the gc then you could ever get out of the teins.

TEIN offers different spring rates too. You have to buy the specified rates in addition to the coil overs.

My H&R coil overs for the Vette do no have adjustable dampning and I haven't found an instance where I would want to adjust them. Many high line suspensions aren't adjustable. If they are matched perfectly from the factory you don't need to adjust them.

I had the RK coils (GC knock-offs) on Konis and my Basics win hands-down despite not having adjustable dampening.

I loved the Basics.

Well this depends if you drive the car on the street and the track. Doing AutoX would be something I would think being able to adjust them would be the key to winning. Cause the track can change as the day goes on or even the track depending on the location. Cause lets face it, the car from the factory is not most people are putting these on. If you have added power the car would need to handle different then the stock car. There is a reason why they are adjustable in so many ways.
