Hey everybody, done a quick search on any creaking noises people have experienced, most are dealing with bad strut mounts, but this noise is acting a little differently. It started about a couple months ago, that every time the car has been parked for a couple hours, when I do get out to go somewheres in it, I throw her in reverse and the first slightest turning of the wheel while backing up makes a quick click/crack sound...other times I have heard this similar sound was in the Tim Hortons drive though..while stopped waiting for my large double double I turned the wheel all the way in 1 direction and on the way back I could hear a more quiet click. Someone has mentioned ball joint..another person mentioned spring could be cracked? Any other ideas, or anybody have this exact problem before..it gives me no problems with drivability or annoyances really, but would still like to know what it could be...if its expensive and @!#$ ha. ttyl. Already replaced upper strut mounts not even a year ago, and replaced right wheel bearing assy. 4 months ago. I drive a 2001 Cavalier 4dr.
im having same problem just replaced strut mount a couple weeks ago and still getting a clickin sound only when i take a turn.. i know it aint the springs cause i inspected everything when i installed strut mounts,... any info on what to look for would be great
could be the cv axle... could be tie rod. could be anything really.. you have to check all the suspension and enitre front end for play or not tighten bolts..
